ABOUT THE GIVING PROJECT

Giving Circles in various forms have existed for hundreds of years. In the past 10 years, collective giving has exploded, and today there are more than 2,500 giving circles in the US. The Giving Project is working to build a network of grassroots giving circles in Vermont. We see giving circles as a way for everyday givers to learn about the issues that matter most to them, impact their communities in meaningful ways and have fun, together!

Through our network of grass-roots giving circles, we are:

  • building a diverse, equitable and inclusive community of philanthropists,

  • increasing the donor base for Vermont’s nonprofits and

  • establishing a tradition of engaged and joyful collective giving.

Our Vision is what guides us

Our vision is to radically increase and diversify the nonprofit sector donor base in Vermont by providing entry points into philanthropy for all Vermonters. We are redefining what it means to be a philanthropist and creating opportunities for all people, especially people who have been left out of the supply side of philanthropy, to engage and experience the power and joy of collective giving.

We believe that in order to create a more equitable Vermont and communities where everyone thrives, we need to broaden the circle of philanthropists. We aim to build a network of giving circles that is inclusive of all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, income and place of birth or where you call home.
